Keep in mind that although a wife and spouse are biologically connected, they are also the parents of their own offspring. In the same way, our brothers and sisters, as well as our paternal grandpa and grandmother, maternal grandfather and grandmother, as well as our grandchild and granddaughter, niece and cousins, are all members of our immediate family.
TYPES OF BLOOD RELATIONS
There are mainly two types of blood relatives:Blood relation from Parental side and Maternal side
Blood relation is well understood if we know well relationship between generations like:
Our generation include: You, brothers, sisters, cousins.
Son or Daughter's generation: son, daughter, nephew, niece
Parents' generation
Father, Mother, Uncle, Aunt
Grand Parents:
Grand Father, Grand Mother etc
NOTE:
1. Most of the time blood relation with our mother's side are usually written with the word 'maternal' like maternal uncle, maternal aunt, maternal grand father, maternal grand mother etc.
2. But our father side are may or may not be written with the word 'paternal' i.e. 'paternal uncle' or just 'uncle' are same in our father's side.
In the examinations, the questions are usually in a complicated way but with good reasoning based on their relationship, it is easy and able to find out.
For this kind of relations is denoted with symbols as given below:
‘⇔’ is used for husband & wife.
‘__’ is used for same generation
‘ | ’ is used for higher or lower generation relation (eg. parents and children, or parents and grand parents).
‘-’ sign is used for female
‘+’ sign is used for male.
